Below are my junk~hunting finds with the "before" repainted tree~~
I removed all the colored beads~~
hand~painted the tree with leftover house paint; let dry and brushed on Elmer's glue and sprinkled on gobs of white glitter~~
then NOT finding any replacement clear "Christmas" type beads anywhere~~used a sprig of holiday floral beads; cut them off and glued stems into the holes. Worked perfectly!
Christmas cards were turned into "hanging ornaments" ~~(these have been good sellers for me this year at my booth); used vintage papers and trims and hot~glued sparkle berry sprigs~~they look pretty gathered in bowls and baskets too~~
~~and Dollar Store ornaments revamped with more silver or white glitter~~
~~I love how the ceramic tree turned out; too cold to spray paint~~actually cut expenses by using leftover can~paint!
What's your latest project?
Here's where the parties are this week~~I'll see you there!
I love it, I'm tempted, I have one just like this and I think this is a great idea!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a very pretty makeover... you would never know it, now that you worked your magic on it! And the way you displayed it with the cards is awesome! Thanks for sharing this idea with us...Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteBest Wishes,

You turned that tree into a thing of beauty!! You have the magic touch. I wish I had one with purple accents for my bedroom. xo
ReplyDeleteOh, just LOVED your white tree transformation. Fabulous! Susan
ReplyDeleteWhat a great project!! I have two of those ole trees. Wellone I made last year so it is not old. The other one is though but it looks pretty good. Thanx for coming to the party!!
ReplyDeleteYour transformations have breathed so much new life and beauty into these pieces! Honestly, I wouldn't have given that ceramic tree a second look in its original state, but I certainly would look NOW! And I'm not surprised that you sold bunches of those Christmas cards. They're gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking to Time Travel Thursday this week.

ReplyDeleteWhite paint and glitter makes it beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI remember that tree that you found! I love what you did with it and how creative you got when you didn't find the replacement bulbs...great idea to use those glassy sprigs...I wouldn't have thought of that...I'll have to keep my eyes open for a ceramic tree now...seems that the ones I find are missing bulbs...I'll know how to fix that problem :) I think the ornaments you made using recycled cards are so pretty too...you are good girl...you know that?!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful holiday season :)
Big hugs,
Queenie

My grandparents used to have that exact same tree! But your white glitter version looks SO much better! I don't know if I would ever have seen that potential but you've made it look great!
