Toile Wallpaper Tray

I bought a $5.00 vintage wood/glass tray over the weekend and took it apart; this sage green toile wallpaper is the background for the stencil~~I stencilled directly onto the wallpaper using light and dark browns in paint colors~~

I originally was going to paint the wood frame~~however, I liked the vintage/antique~y look of the wood; sanding up the edges a little~~

Look at this vintage ceramic nut dish with a little squirrel!  I've seen these in blog~land and wanted one for myself~~this put me back a whole $1.25~~I'm loving that!

Does that happen for you??~~you see something on blogs and think to yourself  you'd like to have that and you run into that very thing.   Have a great, autumn week!

Simple Pillow Slipcover

Finally!!  Slipcovers for pillow and wing~chair completed.

I added three large buttons to the strip of muslin~~below are my two pieces just before adding the muslin band where the buttons are sewn onto~~

Burlap and vintage shower curtain with a touch of muslin!  ~~makes a cute pillow cover~~I added ties (hate doing zippers)~~so easy to wash/dry and put back over a pillow~~

My side~table top is sanded and ready to paint/stain~~hopefully this is tomorrow's project:

Over the weekend, hubby and I went to a fall festival and I found lots of wonderful vintage goodies; here are
three I want to show-and-tell now:  two brown bottles and a orphaned little brown transferware lid (so sweet for $1.00)~~

Bargains Vintage~Style

It's starting to rain again today~~hard to get some good lighting in the house even with the lights on and doors open~~last Thursday was my junking day and found these treasures on the very cheap.

This aqua~ribbed bowl with green banding is my very favorite find for $4.00; a large vintage print of "The Hunt" in faded aqua's/tans~~$10.00 (I want to maybe paint the frame); sweet tall wooden pedestal for $5.00~~

A vintage metal tray depicting apples for $1.00;  the brown sewing basket $2.00~~I'm thinking some burlap and paint on this little project~~all the mentioned items came from Catholic Charity.

My favorite junking stop Thursday~~our local habitat resale~~found the "orange plaid" footstool and white metal table~~each $1.00!

Could not have past up these little treasures: each 25 cents~~big wooden knobs and two lovely old door plates complete with rust!  They will come in handy for projects too.
I left something at the resale shop that I could kick myself for not buying~~$5.00 metal table with a wooden top~~so industrial and paint~worthy~~when the store opens tomorrow I'm hoping it's still there.

It will make a great side table for resale at my booth~~I'll picture tomorrow if I'm lucky enough to still get it.

Last Year's Autumn Vignettes

It's been a quiet Sunday here today; we've had lots of rain and just a lazy day for me.  I'm using some older posts of my favorite vignettes that were tucked here and there in some of the rooms~~~

I'm still using these same little pinecones this year; this vintage table runner~~I love the simplicity of it on the dining room table too~~

Love orange lillies early autumn~~~I posted this almost a year ago~~hard to believe the time has slipped by so quickly~~

Chilly outside today due to the rain; one more cup of tea while I browse the blogland and pinterest for more ideas~~tomorrow we should have sunshine and back to the house projects.

Slipcover and Side Table Projects

I really want to get this slipcover done tomorrow!  Started early this morning~~using up a huge stash of $5.00 muslin curtains for this project~~sort of a "piece work" as not all the pieces are exactly same whites~~but, I love the way it's turning out.

Tomorrow I'm finishing the pleated hem.

My recent purchase of a $7.00 side table has been lightly sanded~~it's getting painted tomorrow too.
I'm trying to decide on some fall~looking fabrics for this room: Next up~~chair pillows and found these photos from Pottery Barn~~my inspirational color scheme~~

Above:  Pottery Barn curtains~~~

I love the colors in the above panels~~I want to find something similar to this color scheme/pattern and make only wide "side borders" to my curtains which are white.  This pattern is "too much" overall for my room~~but, using just a border to each panel would add some nice color and dimension to the windows.

And I love these PB pillows: I think I can duplicate the look for my chair.  These colors match my rug in this room and will look great for autumn~~the black china cabinet off to the side tones down all the white/neutrals.  I'm thinking the rust and aqua pillows will be pretty to this big old chair.

Dollar Stores: Autumn Deco Ideas

Great thing about catalogs (like Pottery Barn); is free inspiration.  Last fall's issue showed glass jars of votive candles with twine wrapped leaves on the outside~~I decided to buy those $1.00 candles and do some copy~cat decorating~~

Used some jute wrapped around a big pillar candle with glass hurricane shade:
found some more pretty leaves and fall picks to play with too~~

Last year I bought this huge pine~cone candle at the resale shop for under $2.00~~
today I bought the smaller restaurant platter at Catholic Charities; loving the brown stripe and layering it with a bigger platter that is "fallish" looking~~

Bought this vintage Halloween pumpkin last year for only $7.00~~still lights up! ~~you can barely make out the cat in this photo right beneath the pumpkin~~

I like seeing a bit of autumn in each room of the house; sometimes it's just really plain and simple: a small candle with pinecones in a bowl.  Are you loving this time of the year?
