I bought a $5.00 vintage wood/glass tray over the weekend and took it apart; this sage green toile wallpaper is the background for the stencil~~I stencilled directly onto the wallpaper using light and dark browns in paint colors~~
I originally was going to paint the wood frame~~however, I liked the vintage/antique~y look of the wood; sanding up the edges a little~~
Look at this vintage ceramic nut dish with a little squirrel! I've seen these in blog~land and wanted one for myself~~this put me back a whole $1.25~~I'm loving that!
Does that happen for you??~~you see something on blogs and think to yourself you'd like to have that and you run into that very thing. Have a great, autumn week!
I'm joining these parties this week:
I luv how you put all of that together...and you were right not to paint the frame, it has a definite vintage feel.
ReplyDeleteLove it!!!! you did great! .....yep, I know exactly what you mean.....now I want a tray like yours...lol!
ReplyDeleteLove the tray! I love it when you've gotten something and you're not sure what exactly it is and then you see it on someone else blog and you find out what you have...that's happen to me with my demijohn.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your evening,
Gail
I truly love toile. Your tray looks fantastic. I agree with your decision not to paint the frame.
ReplyDeleteThat is a GREAT idea to stencil over the toile paper and it looks wonderful. Yes, I DO think about something I've seen and find it in the next day or so. It's spooky. How do we do that?
ReplyDeleteSo Beautiful! I love it!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Joanne
I love toile and I love the tray! and the squirrel and the nut!
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely. And, yes, I think you made the right choice not painting the frame of the try. It has a lovely patina that would be lost once covered in paint.
ReplyDeleteThat's a nice wallpaper tray idea....I'm always looking for something new.....Mel
ReplyDeleteI love how that came out. I have an unfinished tray that I plan on doing something with today. Yours has totally inspired me. It looks just beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing at my Fall into Fall party.
ReplyDeleteI have been on the lookout for a nice bed tray to place on the guest room bed. This would look perfect. I love what you did to it, if I find one I may need to borrow your idea as I love the wording.

Ellen
SOOOO SWEET! I like that you stencilled directly on the wallpaper...beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYou always find the neatest things! I'm going out this afternoon on a treasure hunt!

What a creative idea to stencil over the wall paper. You turned a plain tray into a work of art.
ReplyDeleteI would love to create a similar look. Can you tell me where you found the stencil you used?
It is amazing how such a small and uncomplicated change can add such a 'bang' to your home accessories! Your tray turned out beautifully. You definately have a knack for accesorizing. That side table is gorgeous!

Your autumnal vignettes are so charming, Patty! Fall is my favorite time of year, and you have created such pretty seasonal decorations to surround yourself with. By the way, I love the nut and squirrel dish. ;)
