Flash Cards

I bought these flash cards for .50 cents when out thrifting a few weeks ago~~using light brown ticking as the background;  using a decorative stamp design to one corner and glued them onto the fabric~~

Makes a sweet backdrop for other vintage items on a bookshelf~~I succeeded in getting several projects done for the booth at the antique mall~~

I thought about painting the frame, but actually liked the darker effect around the fabric background and the cards~~

Tomorrow posting candlestick and cheese dome projects~~I think they turned out pretty darn cute~~

Fabrics

I bought these fabrics for pillows (just temporarily wrapped around existing pillows to give myself an idea if I like these patterns together)~~

I think the chevron pattern updates my family room~~and the floral has enough taupe/browns that match the mocha color chenille of the sofa/chair~~

I've also bought a large bolt of the damask pattern with pretty bird (it's a large pattern)~~this I'm making into curtain panels for the big window~~

The larger print helps balance out the high ceilings; even though all my rooms in this old house are boxy~~still gives an open feeling with larger door openings into each room~~I have to keep the fabrics within the same tones and color contrasting~~due to the fact you can view one room into the next.

I'm having a hard time deciding fabrics to use at the windows and not be too repetitous with the same patterns~~

~in the background you'll see a "long crack" in the old door~~another fixing to do~~love these old panel~type doors; one on each side of the room.  My husband thought we should take them down, but I love how they flank the doorway; it defines this area into the next~~

As I get more confident in my room progress I will post more pictures~~so much to do yet.

~Have a great weekend~

Chandie

"Are we there yet?"~~~no.  But, getting a little closer; inch by inch.  Ugh~~taking forever!  The medallion painted and up; chandie up (but not connected yet).  At least it's hangin'.  Don't love the shades~~those will be replaced for sure.  All in all~~I really love this $64.00 chandelier.  The price was right, the style perfect for my room and I can paint it if I decide the color isn't working for me~~

Random photos~~leftover white roses dried so pretty~~saving them for an apothecary jar~~

And my next little project:  a $3.00 wall lamp to paint and make~over the shade~~

I love vintage lamps.  ~~and they sell very well at the shop booth.

A vintage postcard that seems to cover all the upcoming events: Valentine's~~a little St. Pat's and Easter too.

So, tomorrow working on "that" room again with the chandie.  I really can't wait to post my results.  That may be a rather long time at the rate we're going.

Little Music Cones

Isn't this vintage planter the sweetest!  I'm taking some "smalls" to the booth this week; pretty little fillers here and there~~

A touch of lavender buds wrapped around a few tiny music cones~~

~~the lavender plushy robe stays home with me :)

~I still have a small love affair for vintage cherubs; though I don't decor them in my house much~~I love to find them and repurpose or tuck them into vignettes at the shop booth.  They're still wonderful selling items~~perfect for Valentine's Day decorating too.

Another cup of coffee and I'm off for errands and house cleaning/projects.  Have a great week and I'll see you on your posts!

French Stencil

I've wanted to try a harlequin~French design on something~~

~~this little table I bought several months ago at CC for under $5.00~~

~~white base painted then added my own diamond shape in gray paint to the top;  sanded and distressed before adding the French stencil~~

~~then more light sanding~~added a quick swipe of walnut stain; finished off with a matte sealer to protect the surface~~

I've found some really wonderful stencils through Etsy; my next attempt at some antique~y looking signs using large stencil letters and numbers on old cabinet doors found at the resale shop.   Have you stenciled something recently?

~~Joining the parties here this week; see you there!

Old Wood Bin

Well, here's that old wood box~~$1.25 from Resale Shop~~lots of chips and few missing pieces.  That (to me) made the price even more charming.

Leftover white paint, bit of gray, a cute stencil design~~sanded over the design; then used a bit of dark stain to tone down the brightness.

See you at these fabulous parties (thank you to the hostesses)~~
