Vintage Windows Project

Recently, bought some old windows for 1.00 and 2.00 each~~excited that I could find them this cheap~~regrets that I didn't buy them all!

I did snag up several tho'; different shapes and sizes:

~~and at my local junk shop, picked up this ornamental swag piece for 3.00 to use as a decorative header after painting it and the window with a fresh coat of white chalk paint~~

~~had to add some stencils~~and here's the finished project ready to go to the shop booths~~

Here's a great party going on:

Old Drying Rack ~ Herb & Flower

Not really old, but made to look that way;

Here's my tray box I originally made to fit over a metal table and it didn't fit; so I made a drying rack/gathering tray.

Added some little hooks for drying herbs and flowers~~

and hardware wire to the back~~

Stencilled every which way on the boards to appear as though box was made of "vintage French boards"~~; )

~~a sweet gathering box/tray~~

Standing on it's side; ready to pretty up the counter or wall drying bundles of oregano, thyme, rosemary~~

~~the aroma is wonderful~~

Here's my small jars awaiting for more dried herbs~~

Lovely in the fall/winter for stews, soups, baked fish/chicken/pork~~

Much cheaper and so much better when you grow your own food~stuff~~

File Cabinet Side Table and Photo Wreath

My bad~~didn't get some before pics but in a hurry to restock the booths.  Here's my metal file cabinet a.k.a. side table; painted aqua. 

And~~I bought a set of glass cannisters for $5.00; repainted the lids and wood base white; added gray stenciled numbers; and two metal handles~~

So here's where I messed up~~

I removed the hinged lid top of the filing cabinet: going to make a tray~top from wood that will sit down on top of the metal structure (the idea is to use the top also as a tray and store items beneath it)

~~ HOWEVER~~not being a great carpenter~~my measurements were off just a tiny bit~~dang!

~~so on to "PLAN B"~~

I already restructured this wooden piece into something else (and I think it turned out so sweet~~will post it when I complete it)~~and since I goofed this up for the cabinet top~~having my husband cut more boards for me with "better measurements"~~

I'll post it when I get it all fixed up and corrected!  Now, I'm behind again with more projects related to goof~up!

You know those metal wreaths (found at craft stores)~~

I bought a used one on the very cheap; painted it and some clothes pins~~

Bought some vintage photos from Ebay for my displays at the booth; will use a couple of them on this metal wreath (a.k.a. unique industrial~looking photo holder ;)

Tomorrow will get started on the table~top~tray for the cabinet (have painted the metal rollers for the bottom too~~didn't picture those)~~I think it'll turn out okay; sometimes goofs turn into other projects for a good reason~~

Feedsack Lampshade

A small strip of feedsack leftover from a project~~

to recover a lamp that " did.not.sell. " at my booth~~

(below is said lamp:  I loved it, had a really good price on it, but it just never sold).    I'm not giving up or giving in~~just gonna change out the shade for something more "today"~~

I found this sweet, vintage oval shade for $3.00~~

And some vintage striped sheeting to use for the back portion~~

Much better, don't you think?  I loved the blue toile, but I think the feedsack shade looks trendy.  I can see this tacked on a ledge of bookcase or surrounded by several vintage mirrors~~

On a good note; I made the decision to take home some other items from my booths that had been there for awhile~~but, to my suprise most had sold!  That was just the boost I needed; that inspired me to get busy creating and painting.

Someone's Paint 50c

Better than the "clearance" tag indicated on the above can of paint~~I bought some 50c leftover's from the Habitat Resale Shop~~

~~and love getting someone else's decor paints to experiment with baskets or furniture~~sometimes adding a bit of white or black to "customize" the color I want for a project~~

~~a fabulous way to cut expenses without buying a brand new can of paint; this color was the perfect aqua~~

~~so for 50c; I could paint up a storm on a few little projects for my booths at the antique mall~~this color always sells well with customers~~

~~but, I'm really liking this metal basket for storage; so it may hang out here at home for awhile~~

Mod Podge French Boxes

Hey; I just figured out home-made chalk paint works beautifully on "cardboard boxes" too!

Got a great little deal on 3-nesting-boxes at GW for $1.00; painted each one in a black, white and gray~~

Hobby and Michels sell cardboard boxes of all descriptions really cheap too (better on half-price week!)~~

I used some vintage "naturally aged" paper bought for label projects and cut them 8x11 for my printer~~copied my images right onto the aged paper~~

Above~~the "Paris" image I decided to tear along the edges to look worn.

~~and simply mod-podged the cut outs (labels) onto my painted boxes~~then mod-podge over to protect the image~~

Brown paper sacks (cut to 8x11) for printer paper would work sweetly too; would give a project that old, natural look in vintage labels~~

Off to see what you're up to this week and start (finishing-up) some delayed projects.

Bistro Vintage ~a gift~

My son and his fiance came home yesterday for the holiday.  And look at this sweet wooden bistro set that my future DIL gave me!

They live near Chicago; she told me her neighbor was having a yardsale and this was $10.00!  ~~and she thought it would look sweet on our porch.

I love it.    Thank you Brandie so much for thinking of me~~(she knows my style well).

Have a great 4th of July; America, the Beautiful~~yes she is.  Aren't we fortunate to love and live so freely.
